Jason Koob, MDEmergency Medicine Expert Witness

Services & Process

Scope of Work

  • Pre-suit merit screening

an early, candid read on whether the care at issue departed from the standard of care, before significant costs are incurred.

  • Comprehensive record review

a rigorous, independent analysis of the complete medical record against the standard of emergency care that applied at the time of treatment.

  • Written opinions

reports and declarations written to be understood by attorneys, judges, and juries.

  • Deposition and trial testimony

direct, composed explanation of the medicine, in plain language, under oath.

  • Consulting expert work

behind-the-scenes case analysis, deposition question preparation, and translation of the medicine for your team.

How an Engagement Works

  1. Inquiry & conflict check.

A short description of the case and parties, so a conflict check can be run before substantive review begins.

  2. Secure records transfer.

Records are transferred by whichever method your firm uses, and kept confidential.

  3. Independent review.

The record is measured against the standard of care that applied at the time. The opinion is the same either way — including when it does not support the retaining party's theory.

  4. Reports & testimony.

Written opinions, declarations, deposition, and trial testimony as the case requires.
